Today is the day! Georgie’s first ever birthday party. In previous years we have celebrated by hanging out with family and friends, but now she is in pre-school we are doing the whole “invite a bunch of local kids over to wreck our house” caboodle.
Georgie, our little tomboy who usually has to be convinced to wear anything but jeans, surprised us hugely by requesting a fairy themed birthday party. She was pretty firm in this conviction, so a fairy party it is! I have a few activities planned, and have been scouring eBay to put together the perfect fairy party bags and hunting for pretty party tableware (all on a limited budget!)
We have a “help yourself” box for wings and wands for any party goers who want to add a bit of magic and sparkle to their outfit!
Fairy balloons, a birthday girl banner, and fairy bunting should give our house the party vibe it needs!
Matching fairy table ware for the guests to eat a hefty snack of party nibbles.
Sweets and chocolate buttons for rewards (Georgie is still undecided on the musical statues plan – despite playing it solo for a minute and a half on her actual birthday!), and a parcel all prepared for the much longed for game of pass the parcel.
Fairy colouring sheets for any kids who want to sit down and chill out with some felt pens. These are from a fab Sainsbury’s book which has perforated tear out sheets – perfect for sharing out at a party!
This is our biggest activity – decorate your own fairy house. I bought miniature papier mache birdhouses off eBay and gathered together a selection of stickers, glitter, and paint for the kids to go wild decorating them. I was chuffed to find tiny tinker bell stickers that are the perfect size for the houses too.
Cakes! These beauties were baked last night and my lovely Mum is going to help out decorating them this morning before the party.
And last but not least, here’s a peek into the party bags at our preschooler fairy birthday party. Each child is getting a fairy glider, a notebook, pencil & sticker set, bubbles, some edible treats, and a little fairy charm bracelet.
I really hope that Georgie enjoys her party today, and I don’t go mad and pull my hair out at the roots! I have a feeling our little house is going to feel very crowded, especially if the weather doesn’t co-operate and stay dry! It will be so much easier if we can do a lot of it in the garden!
